Mission
The National Safety Council saves lives
by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes, communities and on the
roads through leadership, research, education and advocacy.
Founded in 1950, the South Louisiana Chapter
of the National Safety Council provides
safety and health information, training, programs and resources in South Louisiana
and the Gulf Coast region.
Originally
incorporated as the New Orleans Safety Council, then the Metropolitan Safety Council of the New Orleans Area Inc. and
now doing business as the National Safety Council, South Louisiana Chapter and
the Louisiana Safety Council (filed trade names with the Louisiana
Secretary of State).
We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Our federal tax
identification number is 72-0459032.
The Chapter is a non-governmental organization whose financial support is derived primarily from
education, training, memberships and grants from private
business and industry, as well as governmental agencies who recognize the value and necessity of an organization which gives citizens an
opportunity to participate in all aspects of safety and health within the local community.
Our efforts focus
on safety and health in the workplace, home, community and on the roads.
